Sarah Ludford meets with Uyghur activisit, Rebiya Kadeer, to help raise awareness of the reality of life as a religious and ethnic minority within the People's Republic of China.

Rebiya Kadeer, President of the World Uyghur Congress (WUC), has won the Rafto Prize for Human Rights and been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize on several occasions. Sarah is keen to work with Ms Kadeer, Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation (UNPO) and the Uyghur community to ensure European institutions take a leading role in pressurising Chinese authorities to respect international commitments and strengthen human rights and democratisation efforts.
