Euro-MP congratulates Islington's "Question Time" students

Islington's Liberal Democrat MEP Baroness Sarah Ludford is congratulating City and Islington College on being one of 4 schools to win the BBC Question Time's 2006 Challenge.

The challenge required the participants to host debates in the format of the BBC programme as part of a nationwide competition. Students from the winning schools, including City and Islington College, will now work with David Dimbleby on a special edition of "Question Time" to be broadcast on 6th July. Sarah Ludford said:

"The best way to succeed in politics is by asking the right questions, and I am glad that the City and Islington students have mastered this art at such a young age!"

"A group of pupils from the college visited me in the European Parliament last year, and I returned the visit in February when I attended their Awards Ceremony. On both occasions they struck me as bright, ambitious and articulate young people, who are clearly going from strength to strength in terms of their achievement."

"Thanks to the quality and commitment of the students, staff and governors, City and Islington College has once again shown that it is a credit to the borough. I hope they enjoy their well-deserved experience at the BBC!"
